Many students do the work, stay committed, and come close to earning their degree—only to stop short due to an unexpected financial barrier. In fact, research confirms nearly half (48%) of students who did not complete their program of study said financial challenges played a role in their decision to leave school. Often, it’s a small debt or expense that can stand in the way of a student graduating.

If you know a student on track to graduate in academic year 2025-26 who may be facing an unforeseen cost or financial need, we have a scholarship that can help. The Sallie Mae Fund and Thurgood Marshall College Fund are partnering once again to offer 170 Completing the Dream Scholarships. These awards help students cover unexpected expenses and complete their post-secondary education.
