Sociology Paper Award
The competition for the Sociology Paper Award is open to all students who are admitted to the sociology major or minor before the Sociology Paper Award deadline.
Papers must be original student work that demonstrates a sociologically grounded analysis of data and/or engagement with ideas. They must be original or class assignments. Papers must be written and submitted in Huskies Scholarships prior to this award’s deadline. They cannot be co-authored with faculty.
A faculty committee will evaluate the degree to which papers demonstrate competence in sociological analysis. A paper that includes original ideas and is well-written will generally be more successful in this regard. It is difficult to demonstrate the expected level of sociological analysis in papers shorter than 10 pages.
The department reserves the right to grant no awards.
